No Gold Cup for Delta Work

Trainer Gordon Elliott has confirmed Delta Work has been ruled out of the WellChild Cheltenham Gold Cup in March.

The eight-year-old, who managed to finish in fifth place behind winner Al Boum Photo in the feature event at Prestbury Park last year, was being aimed at the high-profile race again next month.

However, after finishing third to Kemboy in the Irish Gold Cup at Leopardstown’s Dublin Racing Festival, Delta Work has suffered an injury setback.

Elliott has now ruled his charge out of the Gold Cup and feels Delta Work might have run his last race of the campaign.

“Unfortunately, Delta Work has suffered a setback which has shown up since he last ran at Leopardstown,” he said.

“It’s going to rule him out of the Gold Cup and probably the rest of the season.”
